A board is different, because it comes out every single day. This one is cut from solid bamboo, big enough to work on at 33.5cm by 24cm, and gentle on knife edges in a way that glass and plastic never are.

A plastic board gets scarred and thrown out within a year. Bamboo takes the beating and keeps its colour, and the engraving stays put.

Care and Use

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry it straight away. Never soak bamboo and never put it in the dishwasher. It will swell, warp and crack. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heat.

Rub in a little food-safe mineral oil every month or two. It keeps the wood sealed and stops it drying out.

Wood is a natural material, so the grain and colour vary from one board to the next. That is part of it, not a fault.
